Summary of actions during EMU Board of Regents meeting, April 21, 2017

YPSILANTI – Today (April 21, 2017), in its regularly scheduled meeting, the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved a new academic program, in Data Science and Analytics, along with authorizing the development of a new comprehensive fundraising campaign for the University.

In other Board action during the meeting:

• It was announced that former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade will serve as commencement speaker during Saturday's morning and afternoon ceremonies.

• The Regents approved 2017-18 Faculty Research and Creativity Activity Fellowships.

• The Regents approved 2017-18 Faculty Sabbatical Leave Awards. Also announced were 2017 award winners in the James H. Brickley Endowment for Professional Development and Innovation.

President James Smith provided details on his upcoming trip to China, and offered a summation of campus activities over the past several months in his regular President's Report to the Regents.
