Update to Campus Safety Advisory - Friday, Oct. 15, 2021

EMU Police have observed surveillance video from off-campus believed to be the two individuals in the advisory reported earlier. The two are seen on video getting into a dark grey vehicle and driving in a direction away from campus. It should be noted that EMU Police initially received many different descriptions of the individuals, as well as viewed the image circulating on social media that showed the individuals off campus. At this time, there is no indication that the individuals were ever on the Eastern Michigan University campus in connection with this situation.  Additional updates will be provided if warranted.
As always, if you observe suspicious activity, call 9-1-1 or EMU Police at 734-487-1222.

The Eastern Michigan University Department of Public Safety would like to remind the University community to:
  • Be aware of your surroundings and look assertive.
  • Walk with friends or coworkers when possible.
  • Seminars in safety awareness and self-defense are offered by the Crime Prevention Division of the department.
  • Trust your intuition. If a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, remove yourself from the situation. Don't be afraid to follow your instincts.
  • Program the number for EMU Police (734-487-1222) into your cell phone.
  • EMU Police Department Tip Line: 734 487- 4847
