Eastern Michigan University to kick off orientation with SOAR program dates – March 10 - August 12

YPSILANTI –  Eastern Michigan University encourages future students to receive guidance and explore their pathways during a series of Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) programs. The SOAR program includes advising and fall course registration, small group time led by a peer mentor, and presentations from the Office of Financial Aid and other campus departments.

“We’re hoping students will use this opportunity to learn about EMU and campus life and create for the students a sense of belonging,” said Calvin McFarland, associate vice president of academic service. “We have various departments that will attend to help students get the inside scoop on what an education can look like at EMU.”

To increase the momentum and awareness of the SOAR program, incoming students and their families will start the day at a resource fair where they can gather information from 25 different departments, engage with other students and check out Eastern's amenities. In addition, Campus Life will host a photo booth to get students excited about the day and small giveaways for participation.

With over 100 students expected to visit EMU for orientation, prospective students are encouraged to register at EMU to experience SOAR and its many benefits. EMU has open availability to register for the following dates:

  • Friday, March 10
