Eastern Michigan University is ready to “Paint it Green” for Homecoming Week (Oct. 2-7)

YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University will soon transform into a sea of green as students, faculty, staff, and alumni gather to celebrate Homecoming 2023: Paint it Green. A special week of events starts Monday, Oct. 2 and runs through Saturday, Oct. 7, when the EMU football team takes on Ball State at Rynearson Stadium.

“Homecoming is a unifying event that brings together past and present members of the EMU community, with programming that both alumni and current students will enjoy,” said Homecoming co-chairs Lucas Langdon and Celia Murkowski. “It’s a great way to show your EMU spirit, relive shared memories, and create new ones.”

The celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, with a picnic at University Park. Activities during the week include an Office Decorating Contest; Green and White Feud; Black Alumni Mixer; Shirt Swap & Build and Eagle; Trap Karaoke; Revel @ The Rec; Black Homecoming Cookout; and a Yard Show.

Brooklyn-based standup comedian Joyelle Nicole Johnson headlines a special performance on Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. at Pease Auditorium., and Chicago-based comedian Sohrab Forouzesh will also perform.

The weekend promises even more fun, headlined by a Friday night performance by Brooklyn-based standup comedian Joyelle Nicole Johnson. Johnson, who is also a writer and actress, has been seen on HBO, Netflix, Comedy Central and NBC. Chicago-based comedian Sohrab Forouzesh will also perform. The show starts at 8 p.m. at Pease Auditorium (494 College Place). Tickets are $10 for students and $25 for the general public. EMU alumni can get tickets for $15 using the code HOCOAlum23. Tickets are on sale now (click here). 

On Saturday, Oct. 7, plan on stopping by the Alumni & Friends Tailgate (tickets required) between noon and 3 p.m. for food, beverages, and a good time before heading into Rynearson Stadium to watch the Eagles take on Ball State at 3:30 p.m.
