Eastern Michigan University GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology to host TechTalk featuring EMU alumnus Mark Stanislav, vice president of security engineering and governance, risk and compliance, FullStory

YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology will host a TechTalk featuring EMU alumnus Mark Stanislav, vice president of security engineering and governance, risk and compliance of FullStory at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, located at 124 Sill Hall or via Zoom.

EMU TechTalk is a series that offers students and faculty opportunities to network with experts and up-and-coming leaders in the engineering and technology fields. Each TechTalk provides networking opportunities and a chance to explore careers, internships, and research opportunities at the College. 

“Mark's accomplishments in the field of cybersecurity are a source of inspiration for our students and faculty. We are honored to have him back on campus to share his knowledge and expertise,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. 

“All of our TechTalk events align perfectly with our commitment to providing our students with access to industry leaders and real-world insights,” said Qatu. 

Since launching EMU TechTalk, students and faculty have heard from industry leaders, including Kiana Wenzell, co-executive director from Design Core Detroit, Matt Wagner, manager of Renewable Energy Development at DTE Energy, and Raffaele Mautone, founder and CEO of AaDya Security. 

Stanislav’s presentation will focus on the latest trends and challenges in the field of cybersecurity. He will also present a series of rebuttals to common security industry topics, best practices, and where the industry is headed.

Stanislav has spoken internationally at over 100 cybersecurity events, including RSA, DEF CON, SOURCE Boston, Codegate, SecTor and THOTCON. News outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, CNET, Good Morning America, and Forbes have featured his security research and initiatives. Stanislav holds a bachelor’s in networking and IT administration, and a master’s in technology studies focused on information assurance, both from EMU. Stanislav received his doctorate in cybersecurity from Dakota State University.

Mark Stanislav is the vice president of Security Engineering and Governance, Risk, and Compliance for FullStory. Stanislav has spoken internationally at over 100 events, including RSA, DEF CON, SOURCE Boston, Codegate, SecTor and THOTCON. Stanislav is the author of the book Two-Factor Authentication. Stanislav holds a BS in networking and IT administration and an MS in technology studies focused on information assurance from Eastern Michigan University. While at EMU, Stanislav built the curriculum for two courses focused on Linux administration and taught as an adjunct lecturer for two years. He holds CISSP, Security+, Linux+, and CCSK certifications. Stanislav received his Ph.D. in cybersecurity from Dakota State University.
