YPSILANTI Eastern Michigan University alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students, demonstrated remarkable unity on the University’s annual day of giving, #GIVINGTRUEDAY, on Tuesday, Nov. 28. With support from 957 individual donors, the collective efforts yielded substantial contributions of $526,467 across diverse initiatives and projects, illustrating a deep commitment to student success and campus development.

Nearly 50 percent of all gifts came in through the university’s 38 crowdfunding projects. Among the notable contributions were 43 donors pledging $4,375 to support Mini-Grants to Support Student Wellness, 122 donors contributing $32,525 in support of Swoop's Food Pantry through a matching grant from GameAbove-EMU, 36 donors raising $5,029 for YpsiWrites - Write for Change, and 33 donors contributing $7,600 to the Dr. Judi Brooks Scholarship.

Reflecting on the day's success, EMU President James Smith stated, "This extraordinary display of generosity reflects our community's profound commitment to advancing education and supporting our students."

Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the EMU Foundation, Maher Salah, commented, "The collective support from our EMU community of alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students is inspiring. Each gift, regardless of size, symbolizes our collective commitment to empowering students and supporting their educational journey."

The day saw an array of matching gift efforts across campus, such as Swoop’s Food Pantry crowdfunding campaign matched by GameAbove-EMU, bringing in over $32K. These initiatives were highlighted on the University's crowdfunding site, featuring multiple campus projects.

The cross-campus giving underscores EMU's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for its students.
