YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University's Financial Management Association (FMA) chapter earned a second-place finish at the recent FMA Leaders' Conference in New York City. Students competed in the conference's highly competitive investment challenge, showcasing their financial knowledge and strategic thinking.

The FMA Leaders' Conference is the premier gathering for undergraduate and graduate students interested in finance careers. It offers a comprehensive experience, allowing students to explore diverse career paths in finance and gain insights into the skills needed for success.

"We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by our FMA student teams," said Karen Craig, associate professor of Finance and FMA board member. "This achievement shows how dedicated they are to financial education and their ability to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting."

The success of EMU’s FMA chapter extends beyond the competition.  Four Eastern Michigan University alumni also attended the conference, lending their expertise and experience to the event. This distinguished group included Paul Bryant, assurance partner at Plante Moran and John Tuttle, vice chairman at the New York Stock Exchange, president of the NYSE Institute and past commencement speaker at the University.

Craig played a crucial role in securing alumni participation."Serving on the FMA Board of Directors provided a unique opportunity to connect with our alumni network," said Craig. "Their willingness to participate shows their commitment to EMU and the development of future financial leaders."
