YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University's Children's and Young Adult Literature program will host a new virtual speaker series, "Publishing Children's and YA Literature." The speaker schedule commences at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, and Wednesday, April 3.

Kiel Phegley
Patrick Flores-Scott

The series features interviews with established children's and young adult authors, providing a platform to share insights and experiences from their publishing journeys. The interviews will be conducted on Zoom webinars, followed by Q&A sessions, allowing attendees to engage directly with the authors.

"The new speaker series highlights our recently launched publishing concentration within the Children's and Young Adult Literature major," said Amanda Allen, professor and coordinator of the Children's Literature Program. "We are excited to offer aspiring authors and anyone interested in children's and young adult literature the opportunity to learn from established professionals."

Guest speakers include Kiel Phegley, author of "Strikers," and Patrick Flores-Scott, author of "American Road Trip." Both authors have published several books throughout the years.

This speaker series aligns with EMU’s strategic plan to promote student success and engagement. Advanced registration is required for this series, which can be accessed using this webpage. For more information about the Children's and Young Adult Literature program, visit the webpage.
