Online graduate programs in business and education at Eastern Michigan University ranked in annual U.S. News and World Report evaluation

YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University online graduate programs in the College of Business and College of Education have been ranked in the annual list of top online graduate school programs compiled by U.S. News and World Report.

The College of Business' graduate program in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) was ranked 59th among the best online (non-MBA) business programs in the country. The rankings included more than 150 colleges out of the nation's 3,000 four-year degree-granting institutions.

EMU climbed seven spots from last year’s ranking in this category, and is third among Michigan’s public universities listed in the rankings.

In addition to offering the IMC master’s and graduate certificates online, the College of Business also offers online graduate certificates in entrepreneurship, human resource management and marketing management, and classes for the MBA program as well. Many undergraduate courses are also available in an online format.

"The College of Business offers programs such as the specialized master's IMC that are designed to meet the needs of our students and the evolving marketplace,” said Anne L. Balazs, interim dean of the college. “We are proud of the IMC program, the only one of its kind in the country that is housed in an AACSB accredited business school, and one of the first of its kind offered in the U.S. It attracts students from around the world and delivers a first-class, cutting-edge curriculum in an accelerated format.”

Online graduate programs in the College of Education were ranked 148th this year, third among the Michigan public universities listed in the rankings, which included more than 300 institutions nationwide.

“High-quality, engaging online masters’ programs such as ours offer working teachers and administrators a cost- and time-efficient opportunity to advance their careers and skills without the need to travel to campus,” said Mike Sayler, dean of the College of Education. “Our online courses and degrees provide a high level of interaction and attention from the excellent EMU faculty teaching the courses.”

The EMU College of Education has online master’s programs in Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Educational Media and Technology and the Social Foundations of Education.

Universities’ online programs were ranked on a variety of factors, including student engagement, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, peer reputation and faculty credentials and training.
